Design Engineer

Location: London (Hybrid – 1-2 days/week in office)
Reports to: Head of Product 

Key Responsibilities 

• Design intuitive interfaces for complex simulation and modelling tools 

• Create interactive prototypes that demonstrate simulation workflows 

• Build functional prototypes in React/TypeScript when needed 

• Develop design patterns for data visualization and parameter controls 

• Design visualization solutions for multi-dimensional datasets  

• Collaborate with engineers to implement designs in production 

• Design presentation materials and templates for client meetings 

• Maintain design system and ensure brand consistency across all touchpoints 

Essential Requirements 

• Proven track record shipping products in fast-paced startups 

• Portfolio demonstrating complex data visualization and simulation interfaces 

• Expert in Figma and interactive prototyping tools 

• Ability to code prototypes in TypeScript/React when needed 

• Strong visual design skills and understanding of design systems 

• Experience working directly with engineering teams 

• Self-starter comfortable wearing multiple hats 

Nice to Have 

• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, Vite, Node.js 

• Experience designing simulation or analytical tools 

• Knowledge of data visualization libraries (WebGL, D3.js, Chart.js) 

• Background in fintech or enterprise software
